Abstract

Specimens of Coelodiplosis magnipennis Kieffer (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae), a poorly known species from Taiwan whose types are lost, were discovered among
the holdings of the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC. The species is redescribed and illustrated for the first time. The species is especially noteworthy for its giant gonopods.
